Check Your Mains Stopcock Is Working

Drain The System

If you’re going to leave your home or commercial premises unattended for a long period of time over winter get your central heating system and pipes drained.

Fix Any Leaks

Leaking taps and pipes (no matter how small) can cause pipes to burst in cold weather, check your taps and pipework for leaks, if you have any leaks get them fixed before Winter.

Get Your Boiler Serviced Annually

Annual Boiler servicing reduces the risk of breakdown, a boiler breakdown in cold weather can lead to frozen and split pipes.

Insulate Vulnerable Pipes

Any pipes in cold non-heated areas should be insulated with pipe lagging, water cylinders and tanks in cold areas should have an insulation jacket.

Leave Your Central Heating On

Burst pipes usually occur when the water inside freezes and expands. Simply leaving your heating on during cold snaps will prevent pipes from bursting.
